Dance, Figure, Movement
One of two studies for the same part of an unknown composition of figures. This has an additional figure on the left-hand side. The pose of the figure on the right, with curiously turned-out feet, resembles that of the woman in the oil study for At the Window (1919). It was one of 28 works gifted by the artist’s sister Kitty and her husband James Newmark to the Contemporary Art Society in 1981 and presented to the Tate Gallery in 1981.
