Purchased from the artist at the Second Post-Impressionist Exhibition, Grafton Gallery, October - December 1912 by Robert Ross (1869-1918) (who named it 'The Girlhood of Thisbe') for the Contemporary Art Society, 1912; presented to New Walk Museum and Art Gallery, now Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, 1924
