David Bomberg’s younger sister Raie was born in 1897 and died in about 1921. Kitty, Mrs J. Newmark (1902-2004), the youngest sister, believed it was drawn while the artist was still living in the family home in St Mark's Street, Whitechapel, which he left in late 1912 or early 1913.
