This steep receding view is dominated by the façades lining the boulevard Quai Duquesne, also known as ‘Arcades de la Poissonnerie’ because of its proximity to the fish market, in the Anglo-French coastal town of Dieppe, where Sickert was living at the time, after the breakdown of his marriage, from 1898–1905.
