One of Michael Craig-Martin's linear constructions of ordinary objects, Dolly (1983) is made extraordinary by his treatment of the subject. The drawing in steel has a strictly illustrative, diagrammatic quality, but the canvases, painted in primary colours and green, change the nature of conceptual art and enliven the whole composition.
