Keith Wilson has created a family of steel structures. He has borrowed industrial materials for Lady Grey, which is made from the galvanised steel railings commonly used for holding pens for cattle and livestock.
Developing this connection with the agricultural industry, Wilson has made a pen or fold where the farmers rather than the farm animals might be contained. The structure recreates a bidding arena at a cattle auction.
The artist describes his sculptures as having a chameleon-like quality where the setting also has a role in their interpretation. He states that his work "explores the capacity sculptures have to mean different things according to their context, and how such peripheral meanings impact on their 'core' meanings."
