Terry Lee (1932)

Biography

Terry Lee (b. Sheffield, UK 1932) attended Sheffield College of Art (1953-5), later returning to teach there, and at the Slade School of Fine Art (1955–8), under William Coldstream. He lived for a time in Beeley, Derbyshire, also in Spain, and was married to the artist Rosie Lee (b. 1935) whom he had met at Sheffield College of Art. Lee showed in the north of England, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and in 1980 he was included in The British Art Show, Arts Council touring exhibition chosen by critic William Packer. He had a series of solo shows at New Art Centre, London from 1960 and at Agnew's from 1973. Arts Council holds Lee’s oil The Spider’s Debris, 1962 and other of his artworks are in Birkenhead, Coventry, Liverpool, Hull and Oldham, as well as an early work, Impact (1962) in the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), Brisbane donated by the Contemporary Art Society in 1972.
