David Muirhead (1867 - 1930)

Biography

David Muirhead (b. Edinburgh, Scotland, UK 1867 - d. London 1930) was the son of an architect and master builder. He studied at the Trustees' School, Edinburgh, and the Westminster School of Art under Fred Brown. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1895 and became an ARA in  1928. He also exhibited with the New English Art Club from 1896 and was a member from 1900. He belonged to the RSWS from 1893; the RBA from 1902 and founder member of the National Portrait Society in 1911. A retrospective exhibition was held at the Chenil Galleries in 1907. and he was represented in the Late Members Exhibition, Royal Acdemy, Winter 1933.
