Contemporary Art Society hosts a fundraising event in honour of British artist Thomas J Price, raising over £97,000 at his Private Studio and Night Tales Loft.

Thomas J Price hosted a fundraising event in East London, with an outstanding committee and guest list including: 

Alia Al-Senussi, Charlotte Artus, Nicola Blake, Marc Ciancimino, Caroline Douglas, Liesl Fichardt, John Gapper, Roopa Girard, Emma Goltz, Soo Hitchin, Nicolette Kwok, Eva Langret, Suling Mead, Anna Mitchell, Francis Outred, Ralph Segreti, Deborah Smith, Robert Suss, Neil Wenman, Cathy Wills, Zoe Whitley & Mary Wolridge. 

Guests were welcomed to the artist’s private studio in East London for champagne and a tour of the artist’s creative process. After an insightful In-Conversation with Contemporary Art Society Director, Caroline Douglas, guests were led to Night Tales Loft for performances by award winning Brixton Chamber Orchestra and enjoyed Caribbean curry catered by Chaconia of Deptford. The night concluded with dancing and a wonderful dessert by Chef Blo Deady.  

Previous Artist’s Tables have been hosted by Glenn Brown, Jeremy Deller, Edmund de Waal, Gilbert & George, Antony Gormley, Isaac Julian, Michael Landy & Gillian Wearing, Haroon Mirza, Grayson Perry, Tai Shani, Conrad Shawcross, Do Ho Suh and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. 

The Contemporary Art Society has acquired three works by Thomas J Price for The Usher Gallery, Lincoln (2021).  

Thomas J Price (born c.1981) is a British sculptor. Reaching Out (2020), Price's first individual full figure representation of a woman, has been shown as part of the art project The Line in the East End of London. Price was also selected to create an artwork in 2022 commemorating the Windrush generation for Hackney Town Hall in Warm Shores. Price studied at Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Thomas was nominated for the Fourth Plinth Award and his proposal was on view at the NPG. There have been major exhibitions of his work at the National Portrait Gallery, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto.
