We were thrilled to introduce the third edition in a new series of seminars looking at the very best of contemporary visual practice by geography. Our International Focus series outlines and explores important developments in our global contemporary arts ecology, each edition being delivered by an invited guest speaker with a particular specialism in that region. International Focus: Paris was led by French curator and Director of the David Roberts Art Foundation, Vincent Honoré.
This seminar provides an in-depth look at the contemporary art scene in Paris ahead of FIAC and Paris Photo, highlighting key galleries, projects and practitioners in Paris, drawing out important shifts and developments in recent years and explaining the reasons behind Paris’ rise as a contemporary art centre.
Vincent Honoré is an independent curator and writer based in Paris and London. He was a curator at Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2001-2004) and at Tate Modern in London (2004-2007). He is the current Director and Curator of the David Roberts Art Foundation (DRAF) in London (2008-present). He has defined DRAF as a production unit dedicated to international dialogues and critical experiments, curating group exhibitions or solo presentations, creating programmes of guest curators, performances and talks, and monitoring a collection of more than 1800 works. In 2011, Honoré co-founded Drawing Room Confessions, a contemporary art journal dedicated to one artist per issue, and he is a frequent contributor to a number of contemporary art magazines. He is currently working on books with Sarah Lucas, and Daniel Buren, as well as on a number of exhibitions.
