The collection centres around locally-based artists giving each office a unique identity. Works in the collection are acquired from both established artists and those at an early stage of their career who have been identified as showing great promise. For Dublin, works from artists including photographer Simon Burch, the painters Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh and Elizabeth Magill, and collage artist Sean Hillen have been acquired.
Simon Burch is of special significance having recently held a major solo show Under A Grey Sky at the Gallery of Photography in Dublin. Burch observes the quickly disappearing landscape of Ireland’s central plain, specifically its rain-soaked peatlands. Concerned with issues of nature and identity, his work challenges the ways we intervene within precarious ecological systems. Giving these pictures an almost painterly quality, he evokes impressions of serenity as well as possibility and change.
