London provides the opportunity to see a condensed snapshot of art world trends right now with the London Open at the Whitechapel Gallery, RA Summer Show and BP Portrait Award all opening this month.
The Serpentine Gallery is also presenting the first outdoor, public work by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, a giant floating sculpture on The Serpentine lake.
Outside the capital, Alison Wilding has an exhibition of new and exisiting works at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on the south coast, which is also currently presenting a show by Florence Peake.
