Meryl McMaster (b. 1988, Ottawa) is part of a rising generation of indigenous artists in Canada and uses costume, sculpture and photography to explore identity and its distinct cultural landscapes. Her work has been shown across North America, but her first UK solo exhibition opens at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham on 4 December.

In London, Bloomberg New Contemporaries will transfer from Leeds Art Gallery to South London Gallery, showing 45 of the UK’s most promising emerging artists across both the Main Gallery and Fire Station.
