Last year alone, we placed contemporary works in museums valued in excess of £1.2million through commissions, purchases and gifts, where they are enjoyed by audiences of millions.
Paul Hobson, Director of the Contemporary Art Society said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Arts Council England for this increased investment in our work, especially in these challenging economic times when tough decisions are being made affecting museums, galleries, artists and audiences. In our work to develop public collections of contemporary art, we provide front-line support to a national network of museums and the audiences they serve, whilst also providing vital investment in important new artists and galleries across the UK. This increased investment from ACE is a tremendous vote of confidence in the strategic role we play in sustaining and developing the visual arts sector through building dynamic, inspirational collections for all to enjoy.’
