The exhibitions have a particular emphasis on education in line with the gallery’s formal remit to deliver art and design education to the schools of the city. Birmingham is part of a consortium with Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Ikon Gallery,
which has been awarded Art Fund International funding to purchase major contemporary works to add to their collections. This partnership is bringing a renewed energy to the participating museums.
Editor’s note:
A fantastic neo-classical building, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery has an equally impressive collection — most known for its holdings of Pre-Raphaelite work and contemporary silverware. Take your time wandering through the large gallery rooms and enjoy a moment of respite in the ornate Edwardian Tea Rooms.
