Meeting at London Liverpool Street Station at 10.00
Returning to London Liverpool Street at approximately 16.00
For this July edition of CASt we will be travelling to the Henry Moore Foundation, Perry Green, Hertfordshire. In 1977 Henry Moore gave most of the estate, by then some seventy acres, to a Foundation and after his death in 1986 Perry Green remained the headquarters from which a world-wide exhibition programme was coordinated. Today, The Henry Moore Foundation maintains the artist’s home, studios and grounds, as well as the world’s largest collection of Moore’s sculpture, drawings, graphics, textiles and tapestries. This collection is managed by the curatorial staff who are actively involved in the research, support and curating of Moore’s work worldwide.
Participants can expect privileged insight into the working practices and output of Henry Moore. The visit will include the opportunity to see Moore’s iconic sculptures in beautiful grounds, displays in the original studios tracing Moore’s artistic process beginning with the found objects from which he took inspiration, to the enlarging and carving practices of his work. We will visit Hoglands, Henry and Irina Moore’s home for over forty years, which opened to the public in 2007 and reveals their fascinating private art collection as well the ethnographic objects and books with which they surrounded themselves. A visit to the changing exhibition programme in the Sheep Field Barn will reveal different elements of Moore’s diverse oeuvre.
