Harewood House
Leeds, LS17 9LG United Kingdom

Join us for an afternoon on the Harewood House Estate.

We will visit the studio of Diane Howse for an insight into new work she is preparing for an upcoming site-sensitive exhibition at the Bronte Parsonage.  She will also talk about the contemporary art at Harewood House which was the first country house to run a programme in a dedicated gallery.  Following that we learn how artist Dan Scott has addressed the Sevres porcelain on display on the State Floor through sound and video works in Yesterday.  Interested in the relation of artifacts from previous centuries to the present day, he regards his work as offering a portal and a disruption of the time passed.  Broken Memory by Michelle Taylor and Livia Marin marks their response to the porcelain of Marie Antoinette using everyday discarded china to create works charged with emotion and memory.

There will be time to explore the Sevres exhibition before relaxing with drinks on the Terrace.

Free to Contemporary Art Society Members .  To reserve a place, contact Moira Innes on moira@contemporaryartsociety or 07946 604 109.
