Join us for the opportunity to meet artist Susie Green in her studio and hear about her most recent projects.
Susie Green makes work that sits at an intersection between art and fashion. She is intrigued by the relationship between the spiritual and the decorative and how we give meaning and power to certain objects in our lives.
Green enjoys the protective and transformative nature of clothing, whereby fantasy can be made visible, and one can both hide and reveal oneself. She is also intrigued by the push and pull between real and imagined spaces and time, and how fleeting moments and observations can be captured, re-imagined and represented. Her work has a lightness of touch; often exploring both the pleasures and frustrations of looking at art, and the material nature of the work itself. Often minimal in appearance, there is always an interest in that which is human, emotional and tactile.
Since completing a MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London in 2008, Green’s work has been included in exhibitions including Detail Ohne Titel, Hobrechtstraße 26, Berlin (2012); Modern Empire, La Scatola Gallery, London (2011); Unrealised Potential, NGCA, Sunderland (2010) and New Contemporaries, Cornerhouse Manchester and A Foundation, London (2009).
