Artist Paul Rooney was born and is based in Liverpool. Working predominantly in video and sound, his work explores memories and the ways the past and present collide, often with unexpected and unwelcome results.

Rooney has an extensive track record of worldwide exhibitions, residencies and fellowships including solo projects at Ikon (Birmingham), Cubitt (London) and Matt’s Gallery (London) and group shows at Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Kunst-Werke (Berlin), Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid) and the touring exhibition British Art Show 6. In 2008 he was awarded the prestigious Northern Art Prize.

Join Rooney in his studio for a chance to hear more about his work including The Futurist (2008) which the Contemporary Art Society has recently acquired for the Victoria Gallery & Museum, University of Liverpool.
