Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan have been collaborating as artists since 1995 after meeting on an MFA course at Glasgow School of Art. They have had exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, including solo presentations at Tramway, Glasgow (2010); Eastside Projects, Birmingham (2009); Galerie Francesca Pia, Zurich (2008); Smart Project Space, Amsterdam (2007). They are represented by The Modern Institute, Glasgow, and in 2011, relocated to Newcastle, where they have been nominated for the 2013 Northern Art Prize.

Their work was described in the Guardian as looking “rather like props for an avant-garde play”. They explain it as functioning as displacements or diversions, situated between – and using – sculpture, painting, architecture, photography, performance, literature, institutional critique and curation. These artworks create a staged theatrical experience for a viewer, allowing them to consider their context and their relationship to it.

Join us for this special opportunity to meet the artists in their new studio, to hear about their latest projects, plans for their upcoming exhibition at Chapter, Cardiff, and their reflections on the contemporary art scenes in Glasgow and the North East.
