Contemporary Art Society Trustee and Patron Sarah Elson in conversation with Mark Rappolt, Editor, Art Review.

This event focuses on the ‘collector’ and addresses questions regarding the nature of public and private collecting, what it means to be a collector and what defines a collector of contemporary art.

Sarah Elson is an art historian and co-founder of Galatea Contemporary Art Advisors, a consultancy business that focused for over ten years on the cultivation of collections for corporate and private clients. Independently, she collects, writes and offers instructive forums for education about contemporary art. She serves on several advisory committees, including the Princeton University Art Museum, where she and her husband established an International Artist in Residence programme. Sarah serves on the boards of Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, the Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts UK, and Bow Arts Trust, London. She was Chair of the Contemporary Art Society’s 2011 fundraiser, Material Worlds.

Sarah will be in conversation with Mark Rappolt, Editor of ArtReview. His publications include monographs on the architects Frank Gehry and Greg Lynn, and, most recently, catalogues for artists Michael Gumhold, Slater Bradley and Alex Katz.

Free to Collector Members. Non-Collector Members £30.
