We are delighted to invite Collector Members for a special visit to Carslaw St Lukes to meet gallery Director Debbie Carslaw for a tour of Debbie’s personal collection as well as a private view of New Model Army, a solo show of new work by Linda Aloysius. Debbie has been collecting contemporary art for several years and opened her gallery Carslaw St Lukes in 2005. The gallery aims to nurture emerging artists and represents Adam Bainbridge, G L Brierley and Paul Chiappe, among others.
Featuring both established and emerging artists, Debbie’s private collection includes work by Guy Allott, Charles Avery, William Daniels, Tracey Emin, Rachel Kneebone, Alistair Mackie, Katy Moran, Christopher Orr and Conrad Shawcross.
Linda Aloysius is a sculptor in her final year of a practice-led PhD at Goldsmiths College, London. Her work was recently selected by Phyllida Barlow for the Creekside Open 2011 at APT Gallery, London. New Model Army will look at notions of femininity and references traditional sculpting techniques such as casting, wood construction, modelling and carving. Using found objects and materials she builds ‘female’ sculptures that both acknowledge and flirt with philosophical notions of abjection and voyeurism.
Join us for an evening with Debbie to learn more about the gallery, the current exhibition, her private collection and her unique approach to collecting.
