Join us for tours of two exhibitions in Liverpool.
At the Bluecoat Sara-Jayne Parsons (Exhibitions Curator) will lead a tour of The Universal Addressability of Dumb Things curated by Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Leckey. Through the exhibition Leckey explores how our relationships with artworks and common objects are being transformed through new technologies. He has included a provocative mix of historical and contemporary works of art, videos, mechanical objects and archaeological artefacts. Artists include, amongst others, Louise Bourgeois, Richard Hamilton, Robert Gober, James Rosenquist and Jim Shaw.
At nearby FACT Mike Stubbs (Director) will lead a tour of Winter Sparks. The idea behind this novel show is to turn away from the traditional understanding of the art gallery as a contemplative and over-cerebral space, instead seeking to engage visitors on a journey through impressive large-scale reactive installations. Visitors are able to trigger a personal light and sound show with electric sparks, interact with the dramatic charges from Tesla coils, and explore the mysteries of the Wilberforce pendulum, with work from four exciting international new media artists being seen in the UK for the first time.
