Join us for a series of events in Liverpool starting with a tour of Henny Acloque’s second solo show (entitled Lugar de culto) at Ceri Hand Gallery.

Henny’s narrative paintings explore the fragility of life, referencing old masters such Bosch, Brueghel and Dürer. Layers of paint and reflective varnish create timeless, evanescent landscapes that are inhabited by curious creatures and symbolic, recurring motifs drawn from memories and myths, such as trees, animals, plants, eggs and arches.

Lugar de culto (translated as ‘Place of worship’) features new paintings (all made in 2011), which draw on her family’s collections of auction catalogues and postcards featuring landscape paintings. This will be the last exhibition at Ceri Hand’s Liverpool venue, before the Gallery relocates to London.

Following our visit to Ceri Hand Gallery we will make the short walk to The Royal Standard, an artist-led studio, gallery and social workspace based in the City, for a number of studio visits with the artists based there.
