For the winter exhibition in the outdoor space of The Economist Plaza at 25 St James Street, Munich-based artist Stefan Eberstadt presented 24-hour-piece; a seating construction with self-contained lighting positioned in the centre of the plaza.

Eberstadt combines ideas of sculpture with architecture and furniture design resulting in works made from ordinary materials such as chipboard and plywood that provide both form and function.

In 24-hour-piece Eberstadt has created a work which in its materiality is the antithesis of the marble and limestone plaza but in its practicality and generosity mirrors the ideals of its architects Peter and Alison Smithson. Other exhibitions include solo exhibitions at the Kunstverein, Ravensburg, Germany in 2002 and Rocket Gallery, London earlier this year.

He is represented by Rocket Gallery, London.
