Following the Contemporary Art Society’s recent acquisition of two works by Anthea Hamilton for Hepworth Wakefield, and in advance of her first solo US museum exhibition at the SculptureCenter, New York in September, please join us to hear Anthea talk about her recent work. Starting by discussing Leg Chair (2012), Anthea will present some past and future projects – including her commission for the forthcoming British Art Show – while also explaining the influences of dance, performance and theatre in her practice.

Anthea Hamilton (b. 1978, London) is based in London. Recent solo exhibitions include LET’S GO, Bloomberg SPACE, London, UK (2013), the Tanks at the Tate Modern, London (2012), Sorry I’m Late, firstsite, Colchester, UK (2012), Les Modules, Foundation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, France (2012). Group exhibitions include Don’t You Know Who I Am? – Art After Identity Politics at MuKHA, Antwerp (2014), the 10th Gwangju Biennale (2014), the Glasgow International (2014), and Better Homes at SculptureCenter, New York (2013).
