Biography

Edel Assanti was founded in 2010 by Jeremy Epstein and Charlie Fellowes. The gallery works with international artists whose practices engage with the social, cultural or political realities of the moment in which they live. Our programme’s tendency towards interdisciplinary, research-led work demonstrates how artists are uniquely positioned to witness and distill the complex narratives that define our era.

For the past six years Edel Assanti has been located in London’s Fitzrovia, where our premises host a dynamic events programme in parallel to gallery exhibitions: talks, performances, screenings and live electronic music nights. The gallery’s digital presence encompasses a multi-chapter series of artist video interviews, short films published on gallery exhibitions and 'Contactless Deliveries', a series of video-essays by artists and academics responding to present histories defined by continuous crises.

In 2021, Edel Assanti co-founded London Gallery Weekend, a celebration of London’s diverse gallery community bringing together 140 contemporary London galleries. In January 2022, it opened a new 4,000 square foot gallery in a historic listed building on Little Titchfield Street, with a solo exhibition by Noémie Goudal.
