Soizig Carey’s oxidised Glasgow Arm Piece and Glasgow Brooch have been inspired by Glasgow’s post-war architecture, exploring its austere high-rise housing projects and their impact on urban landscapes and communities. Her work connects well with Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery’s modern and contemporary jewellery collection that dates from the 1970s and consists of work by a wide range of regional, national and international makers.
