Hiller made these Gulf 1 (1991) and Gulf 2 (1991) while listening to radio reports about the first Gulf War. They were part of a series using 1970s children’s wallpapers. The distinct halves of each piece create a tension which encourages reflection on themes such as gender stereotyping.
