The Knotted Chair (1996) designed by Marcel Wanders, Holland was manufactured by Cappellini, Italy in 2002. It is industrially made out of aramid fibre cord with a carbon centre and coated with epoxy resin and set within a frame, yet inspired by an artisan macramé technique. Wanders has turned this chair into work of art to be cherished in the home and integrated into our daily lives. It is also in the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. where he has his design practice; MoMA, New York; the V&A Museum, London; and Manchester Art Gallery, acquired by the Contemporary Art Society in 2002.
