Arthur Edward Anderson (1870 - 1938)

Biography

Arthur Edward Anderson (b. Wandsworth, London, UK 1870 - d. Chessington, Surrey, UK 1938) was the son of Edward John and Eleanor Anderson. He at one time worked as a clerk in the East India Company in London (his father had lived in Meerut, India) and collected works of art that he presented directly to public institutions throughout the country, including Kelvingrove, Glasgow and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Univeristy of Cambridge. He also presented drawings to the British Museum, with a couple through the Contemporary Art Society.
