Cathy Wills

Biography

Cathy Wills is a contemporary art collector and long-standing advocate and supporter of artists and visual arts organisations nationally and internationally. She studied History of Art at University of Manchester and completed a postgraduate degree in Enterprise and Management in the Creative Arts at the University of the Arts, London (UAL). She began her career in the arts in the 1970s working with Henry Lydiate at Art Law and founded the Lewis Johnson Gallery, of which she was the Director between 1978 and 1984. 

Wills sat on the Board of Cornerhouse in Manchester (1984-2004) and was a former Council Member of the North West Arts Board. She is actively involved in numerous arts organisations, especially the Royal Academy’s Contemporary Circle and BFAMI (British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel), and is the founder of the Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship for UAL and the Cathy Wills Sculpture Fund for the Contemporary Art Society. She wqas co-chair of its Collections Fund and has been a Contemporary Art Society trustee since 2012.
