Biography
Jochen Klein (b. Germany 1967 - d. 1997) trained as a painter at the Munich Academy of Arts before he moved to New York City and participated in the artist collective Group Material. He returned to Europe in 1995 and finally settled in London, where he committed himself to developing a body of painting, producing landscape dream scenarios that marked a new allegorical strain in European figurative painting. His partner before he died of AIDS was Wolfgang Tillmans.
