Gwendoline Muriel Parnell (1878 - 1957)

Biography

Gwendoline (Gwendolen) Muriel Parnell (b. Gibraltar, UK 1878 - d. Worcester, UK 1957) ran a her own pottery, housed in a former Chapel in Paradise Walk, moving from Upper Cheyne Row, in Chelsea from about 1918 and may have started making figurines before this date. Her first exhibited figure, of Henry VIII in 1916 was brought by Queen Mary. Her first work for Royal Worcester was a pair of figures of the Queen & George V in 1935, her last were the Chinoiserie Children in 1941, 32 in total. She lived near Worcester. Some of her figures were still produced after her death.
