C. T. / C. J. Dring (active 1930-60 - ?)

Biography

C. T. Dring or C. J. Dring (active 1920-60 - d. ?) was a potter who studied at the Royal College of Art in 1930 and 1931 and won prizes for his pottery and tiles in both years, awarded by the Federation of British Industries. Some of which may the examples in the V&A (C.420-1934). Ernest Marsh (1863-1945) bought a Grouse Plaque from the Brygos Gallery, London for the Contemporary Art Society who donated it to Aberdeen Art Gallery in 1939. He may also be the same as a James Dring who taught at Reigate School of Art in the 1960s but does not seem to be the same as the painter James Dring (1905-1985) - although they are both recorded as studying at the Royal College of Art under William Rothenstein (1872-1945).
