Edgar Edwin Lawrence Pattison (1872 - 1950)

Biography

Edgar Lawrence Pattison was a painter born in Bloomsbury, London who studied at Lambeth School of Art. From the 1890's onwards he worked as a freelance decorative artist, producing designs for wallpapers, cretonnes, tapestries, furniture, interiors and costumes. His clients included leading fabric and furniture manufacturers of the period in England and France. In addition to his work as a decorative artist, Pattison was also a painter and etcher who specialised in middle eastern themes and images of the orient. He exhibited extensively between 1906-35 at venues that included the Royal Academy and the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts. He was also a member of the Society of Graphic Artists.
