François Jean Ernest Arnal (1924 - 2012)

Biography

François Jean Ernest Arnal (b. La Valette-du-Var, France 1924 - d. Kremlin-Bicêtre, France 2012) began to paint after WW2. He went to Paris in 1948 where he met painters, such as Pierre Dmitrienko, Serge Rezvani and Bernard Quentin, and writers, including Raymond Queneau, Hubert Juin, J.-C. Lambert and Alain Jouffroy. By 1960 he had taken up sculpture and spent half the year in the USA until 1964. In 1968, Arnal opened Atelier A in Paris, which notably sold objects created by artists like tables and lighting.
