Adrian Berg RA (1929 - 2011)

Biography

Adrian Berg RA (b. London, UK 1929 - d. 2011) studied at Cambridge University (1949-53), switching from medicine to English, and did a higher diploma in education at Trinity College, Dublin.  He taught in schools, then studied at St Martin’s and Chelsea Schools of Art, then Royal College of Art, 1955–61, his teachers included Ceri Richards. He was senior tutor at Royal College of Art, 1987–8. Berg showed in London regularly from 1964 as well as in Europe and North America. He won a gold medal at Florence Biennale in 1973 and was a John Moores Liverpool Exhibition prizewinner in 1980. He exhibited often at Piccadilly Gallery. Later exhibitions included Serpentine Gallery, 1986, and tour, following a retrospective at Rochdale Art Gallery, 1980. He was made RA in 1992.
