Nitta Kyoko (1962)

Biography

Nitta Kyoko (b. Nanao, Ishikawa, Japan 1962) uses knotting, netting and knitting to create installations that question connectedness and separateness. She frequently explores the theme of the pocket and space. Kyoko learned the fishing net knitting technique from a local fisherman while travelling around southern Laos in 1999. She was also introduced to English cotton organdie when she worked with Maxine Bristow in the UK in 2004.
