Pieter Dupont (1870 - 1911)

Biography

Pieter Dupont (b. Amsterdam 1870 - d. Hilversum, Netherlands 1911) lived in Paris between 1896 and 1902. He was a friend of Steinlen's, whose portrait he engraved. He received a gold medal at the Exposition Internationale of 1900 and returned to the Netherlands when he was appointed Professor of Graphic Arts at the Amsterdam Academy. He initiated the revival of copper-engraving in the Netherlands.
