Lambert Rocour (1946)

Biography

Lambert Rocour (b. Herstal, Belgium 1946) is a self-taught sculptor and predominantly carves in granite. He lived and worked at Haccourt in Belgium. Monolithe (1986) at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, from the collection of Eric and Jean Cass, was carved from a single piece of Belgium granite; it appears organic but is actually a series of encoded messages and secrets known only to the artist. A bullet is also embedded in the sculpture containing a message known only to Rocour.
