Simone ten Hompel (1960)

Biography

Simone ten Hompel (b. Bocholt, Germany 1960) worked with metal as an apprentice locksmith and blacksmith, as well as an art and design student at the Royal Collge of Art, London and has developed a unique ability with the material, design and construction. She has acquired international renown for her sensitive metal work and was the 2005 recipient of the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize — the first time the prize was awarded to a metal work practitioner.
