Christine Joy (1952)

Biography

Christine Joy (b. Ithaca, New York, USA 1952) graduated from  (1976) in printmaking and has a Masters in art therapy from Vermont College of Norwich University (1980). She has been a basketmaker and sculptor in willow since the late 1980s. She was a Technical Assistant for Hisako Sekijima Ucross Foundation, Clearmont, Wyoming (October 31-November 11, 1994) and held a residency at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine (July 1999) and has had  fellowships from Montana Council (1991; 2013), amongst others. Recent exhibitions include Green from the Get Go, International Contemporary Basketmakers, Wayne Art Center, Wayne, Pennsylvania (2011); 8th International Fiber Biennial and Bellevue Art Museum Biennial (both 2012); Crafting a Continuum ASU Art Museum, Tempe, Arizona;  Christine Joy: Currents, Missoula Art Museum, Missoula, Montana;  All Things Considered VII National Basketry Organization Exhibition at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts (2013) and Turman Larison Contemporary, Helena, Montana (2014).
