Gillian Brett Bosworth Jason (1941 - 2020)

Biography

Gillian Jason (b. Moddershall, Staffordshire 1941 - d.  Norfolk, UK 2020) was initially a ballet dancer and had trained as an opera singer. She became a Modern British art dealer and joined Campbell & Franks Gallery in New Cavendish Street, London before opening a gallery in her own name, in her family home in Primrose Hill in 1982, and later in London's West End in 1996, with Benjamin Rhodes. She handled the estates of artists such as David Bomberg, Henry Lamb and Eric Gill and represented Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff, Ivon Hitchens, Bryan Winter, Leonard McComb, John Virtue and Adrian Berg, amongst others. Terry Frost was a lifelong friend. She championed women artists including Bomberg's wife, Lilian Holt. and Eileen Agar, Marlow Moss, Bridget Riley and Elisabeth Frink.
