Ian Howard RSA (1952)

Biography

Ian Howard (b. Aberdeen, Scotland, UK 1952) studied at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art. He won a Travelling Scholarship to Italy, later winning the RSA Guthrie Award in 1978; first prize in the Scottish Open Drawing Competition in 1985; and was a Tolly Cobbold Eastern Arts National Competition prizewinner. Howard taught at Gray’s Art School in Aberdeen, then from 1986 was head of painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. He exhibited at many mixed shows in Britain and abroad and had solo exhibitions at Compass Gallery, Glasgow.
