Melanie Manchot named as the new Artist-in-Residence on the North West Cambridge Development

The Habitation Artist Residency programme, run by CAS Consultancy and Insite Arts on behalf of the University of Cambridge, fosters creative research collaboration between artists and departments within the University. In the fourth year of the programme, artist Melanie Manchot will work with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPdA). Melanie is a London-based visual artist who works with photography, film and video as a performative and participatory practice. For her residency Manchot seeks to engage with a wide cross section of postdoctoral researchers and the OPdA community to explore the future of personhood, friendship, shelter and community in the context of the North West Cambridge Development.

The public art strategy developed for the University of Cambridge by CAS Consultancy/InSite Arts is delivering a public art programme that centres on a thorough understanding of place, developing a distinctive identity for the North West Cambridge Development and setting a standard for public art that has the potential to be a benchmark for best practice nationally and internationally. Public engagement is central to the art strategy: it supports the development by creating dynamic community experiences and providing resonant art encounters that give voice to the unique character of the area.
