Leonard Greaves (1918 - 1949)

Biography

Leonard Greaves (b. Fulham, London 1918 - d. 1949) studied at Chelsea School of Art, 1934–8. Prior to World War II he was for two years assistant lecturer at the National Gallery, from 1945 becoming a visiting instructor at St Martin’s School of Art. He exhibited Royal Academy, NEAC, The London Group, UA and Artists International Association and had several one-man shows in the 1940s, including at The Redfern Gallery. The Artist, The Saturday Book and The Listener published his pictures and he wrote widely, mainly for art and architectural periodicals.
