Ewan Gibbs (1973)

Biography

Ewan Gibbs (b. London, UK 1973) studied at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, Hatfield (1992) and Goldsmiths College, University of London, graduating in 1996. He has held solo exhibitions of his meticulous drawings at Maureen Paley, London and Philip Morris Gallery, New York beginning with Typical Interiors (1997 & 1999) and Façades (2001 & 2002). His works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard; the Hammer Museum, UCLA; and the Denver Art Museum; Tate Gallery, London and The Whitworth, Univesity of Manchester, amongst others. Gibbs was invited to create the visual identity of The Armory Show 2009, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art commissioned him to make a suite of eighteen drawings on the occasion of the museum’s 75th anniversary. He lives and works in Oxfordshire, England.
