Graham Dean (1951)

Biography

Graham Dean (b. Birkenhead, Merseyside, UK 1951) studied at Laird School of Art, Birkenhead (1968-70) and Bristol Polytechnic, Faculty of Art and Design (1970-73). He won the Senior Abbey Award in Painting at the British School in Rome in 1992; took up an ICCD studio residency in Trivandrum, Southern India in 2000 and received an International Fellowship award at the Vermont Studio Center, USA in 2003. Since 1973 Dean has exhibited widely throughout the UK and the USA as well as The Netherlands, including online exhibitions thoughout the 2021 Covid pandemic with Zephyr and Maize, New York.

Dean transmits an essential part of the emotions and psychological states of his characters whether they be beautiful models, athletes, crazy bondage enthusiasts, identical twins, people with skin imperfections, – all using their bodies as vehicles of expression.
