Les Bicknell (1963)

Biography

Les Bicknell (b. UK 1963), a creator of bookworks, lives at Sibton Green, Saxmundham, Suffolk. He did a foundation course at Lanchester Polytechnic, Coventry, 1981 and then obtained an honours degree in graphic design at London College of Printing, 1982–5. He had a solo show, from obscurity into oblivion, at London College of Printing (1986); Scunthorpe Museum & Art Gallery (1991); Searching – Mapping – Solution, Louth (2002) as well as group shows, including Rubberstamps and Concrete Verse at Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol (1988) and Small Presses, at New York Center for Book Arts (1989). His residencies included Alnwick Fair, Camden Junior Arts Festival, Morton Hall Prison and Blackburn Museum. He carried out commissions for North Kesteven District Council and Scunthorpe Borough Council. He has also taught at Lincolnshire College of Art and Humberside Art College.
